music consultantAs founder of Boston Brass in 1986, I soon arranged numerous important works for the group to perform.   Many of these were featured on the quintet's first five recordings.  By choosing music that had, in most every case, never before been arranged for a brass quintet, the way was now shown for developing our unique, individual sound and musical approach.

Without having such custom arrangements, it is difficult for an ensemble like this to distinguish itself from other such groups.

To this day, audiences are still being delighted by some of the best of these:  CASA LOMA STOMP, by Gene Gifford, one of the hottest, most flamboyant "barnburners" from the early 1930's big band era, has proved itself countless times to be a constant favorite with audiences; and TOURNAMENT GALOP, A 19th century tour de force by the American composer and piano virtuoso Louis Moreau Gottschalk, is almost impossible to surpass as a show-stopping opener.

The Boston Signature Series is a library of arrangements I made with the idea of developing a uniquely rich brass quintet sound.  Several of these were recorded by Boston Brass, and this series represents the first time I am making them available for sale to the public.  As the owner and creator of WADDELL EDITIONS, it is my pleasure to officially present The Boston Signature Series.

There are over 40 titles in this series, many of which are being prepared in their completed format.  From time to time new titles will be added and announcements will be made.

To purchase these arrangements and hear samples of some of them, please go to the WADDELL EDITIONS section.

Keep checking this website for the newest releases.

Between the publication of music for brass quintet and the recordings I participated in with Boston Brass, there have been several reviews of these arrangements.  To read some of these please go to the REVIEWS section.

health & fitnessPrivate teaching is another important element of my musical life. My students have come from Boston, Brookline, West Roxbury, Milton and Abington. For more information visit my TRUMPET LESSONS section.

I became involved in fitness in June of 1997, when I decided that I needed to do something to improve my physical health.  After a year and a half of increasing activity and enjoyment in these classes, I passed the AFAA aerobic instructor certification exams.  A year later I began teaching classes a few nights per week at the Brookline Adult & Community Education Program.  To learn more about my involvement as a fitness professional, please go to the HEALTH and FITNESS section; and about these classes, follow the BC&AEP link.

If you are interested in reading a little about the teachers I have studied with, I have a brief TEACHER TRIBUTE page.
